Fascinating WWE WrestleMania Facts

WrestleMania 27 Did Not Have Any Title Changes

Only three championship matches were booked for the Atlanta show. The United States title match between Sheamus and Daniel Bryan was pushed back to the pre-show, and ended in a no-contest. Clearly, this was far from the worst Sheamus/Bryan related crime to ever occur at a WrestleMania.

The two other bouts were for both World Championships. Edge retained the World Heavyweight over Alberto Del Rio in the opener in what turned out to be his swan song, vacating the gold eight nights later. Then to everyone’s surprise, John Cena lost in his bid to dethrone The Miz for the WWE Championship after The Rock intervened.

Rob Van Dam Holds The Best Undefeated WrestleMania Record Today

Van Dam was pinned in one during Sunday Night Heat the night of WrestleMania 19. Counting main show only, Van Dam is 4-0 at the big dance, the best active WrestleMania record now that Undertaker’s lengthy streak ended at WrestleMania 30. The only other performers to be undefeated with at least three WrestleMania wins are The Legion of Doom, Demolition Ax, and Sable.

Van Dam’s wins include capturing the Intercontinental gold from William Regal at 18, retaining Tag Team gold with Booker T at 20, snaring the Money in the Bank briefcase at 22, and pinning Matt Striker in an eight-man tag at 23,

Hulk Hogan Was The First Man To Challenge For WWE, Intercontinental, And Tag Team Gold At WrestleMania

Hogan challenged for said WWE Championship at three different WrestleManias: 5, 7, and 9, the latter of which was impromptu. You could even count 4, since he was ‘challenging’ for it in the confines of a tournament, even if he wasn’t a finalist.

What’s often forgotten is that Hogan challenged for The Ultimate Warrior’s Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 6 – the match was title for title, after all.

Three years later at WrestleMania 9, he and Brutus Beefcake unsuccessfully challenged for the Tag Team titles of Money Inc., Ted Dibiase and Irwin R. Schyster, losing by disqualification in oddball fashion.

Seth Rollins Is The First WrestleMania Main Event Winner That Is Younger Than WrestleMania.

Seth Rollins was born about fourteen months after the very first WrestleMania took place, and memorably captured the WWE Championship on a Money in the Bank cash-in to close out last year’s card. Rollins is also the first WWE Champion to be younger than WrestleMania, which is another mind-blower for long-time fans.

Rollins became the third 1980s-born wrestler, after Bryan and The Miz, to win a WrestleMania main event. Had WWE gone with their original plans, Roman Reigns would have conquered Brock Lesnar for the belt, and he, not Rollins, would have been depicted here, having been born in May 1985. Alas, you can be certain he’ll match Rollins’ feat come April 3, whether the fans like it or not.

Pakistan And Sri Lanka Battle for pride

Pakistan and Sri Lanka - the traditional powerhouses in the subcontinent - face crises in the T20 format just ahead of the World T20 as they brace themselves to play out an inconsequential Asia Cup game on Friday (February 4) after failing to qualify for the final. Not many would have fancied this outcome at the start of the tournament.

Both teams are unhappy about their performances so far and understandably so. Neither team has presented a fake front to brush away the results. On the contrary, both Waqar Younis and Angelo Mathews have expressed disappointment but laid the blame on themselves rather than external factors.

Dhoni looking forward to a good final.

The victory against UAE was another step in the right direction. He's hitting one of those phases as a skipper again where everything he does, simply clicks. Every single move has worked well, just like it did against UAE. India had made three changes to their bowling line-up in an aim to test out the bench strength.

The improvement in Bhuvneshwar's performance, in particular, pleases the skipper for another reason. "Him coming back to the side gives us that extra option in case Shami doesn't get fit. He's somebody who can come in straightaway and start doing the work for the team," he said and credited the bowler for the transition.

Before the World T20, there is the small matter of a final. The Asia Cup finale against Bangladesh will be 'good final', feels Dhoni. He acknowledges that Bangladesh will know the conditions well but also insists that since India have played four games, they are familiar with it too.

Martin Crowe's top five knocks

Martin Crowe, the former New Zealand captain, who passed away on March 3, was one of the most technically correct batsman and the best player of reverse swing bowling, according to his peers. During his time he played many a memorable knocks for the Black Caps. Here are five of them:

188 vs Australia at Brisbane in 1985

108* vs Pakistan at Lahore in 1990

299 vs Sri Lanka at Wellington in 1991

100* vs Australia at Auckland in 1992

81* vs West Indies at Auckland

Shakib Al Hasan reprimanded for swing at stumps

Shakib Al Hasan has officially been reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. The breach took place in Bangladesh's five-wicket win over Pakistan in Mirpur on Wednesday (March 2).

The incident occurred in the 18th over being bowled by Mohammad Amir when Shakib walked across to play the lap shot and was bowled in the process. Furious, he turned around and took a swing at the stumps after which, he immediately apologised to the umpires.

A level 1 violation of Article 2.1.8 relating to "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match", imposes an official reprimand at the least and a maximum of 50 per cent of the match fee.

It's a special win for us: MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni has enough reason to be a happy captain; 10 wins in the last 11 Twenty20 Internationals, five on a trot to win the Asia Cup and all this in the build-up to the World T20. This is quite possibly India's best run-of-form leading to an ICC event in recent years. And that's exactly why Dhoni termed the victory as a 'special win' for his team.

The skipper also liked the fact that this victory was different from other bilateral wins. "The challenge is different from a bilateral series of five games where even if you lose the first two games you still have chances of coming back," he said. "The biggest thing about a final is it is a knockout game. If its an off day for you, you're completely out and you have to start all over again. It's a special win for us."

The victory also showcased India's dominance as a T20 team in recent times. Dhoni was cautious not to equate success in this format to automatically mean success in other formats. But was convinced that India had the right balance for playing a T20I in any condition. That augurs well for the team leading up to the World T20 but a significant concern was the lack of opportunities for spinners in the Asia Cup. Conditions being in favour of fast bowlers put the slower bowlers in the shadow despite them expected to play a major role in Indian conditions.

Rare inventions

Coco Cola

Invented by John Pemberton  In 1885 sold a syrup made of wine and coca extract he called "Pemberton's French Wine Coca," which was touted at a cure for headaches and nervous disorders.

The first bottling of Coca-Cola occurred in Vicksburg, Mississippi, at the Biedenharn Candy Company in 1891. The proprietor of the bottling works was Joseph A. Biedenharn. The original bottles were Biedenharn bottles, very different from the much later hobble-skirt design of 1915 now so familiar.

The first outdoor wall advertisement that promoted the Coca-Cola drink was painted in 1894 in Cartersville, Georgia.Cola syrup was sold as an over-the-counter dietary supplement for upset stomach.

Logo design

The Coca-Cola logo was created by John Pemberton's bookkeeper, Frank Mason Robinson, in 1885. Robinson came up with the name and chose the logo's distinctive cursive script. The writing style used, known as Spencerian script, was developed in the mid-19th century and was the dominant form of formal handwriting in the United States during that period.
Robinson also played a significant role in early Coca-Cola advertising. His promotional suggestions to Pemberton included giving away thousands of free drink coupons and plastering the city of Atlanta with publicity banners and streetcar signs.

Microwave-Oven

Percy Spencer invented in 1946 .A man who was orphaned and never finished grammar school. The type of radiation emitted by microwave ovens is non-ionizing.  This means that it doesn’t contribute to your chance of getting cancer like x-rays, ultraviolet light, etc. do.Microwave ovens do not “cook from the inside out”, as many people say.  Microwaves actually heat from the outside in, very similar to other heating methods.

It wasn’t until microwave ovens became extremely popular in the 1970s that they were commonly known as “microwave ovens”.  Before that, they were typically known as “electronic ovens”.

Spencer himself, despite being literally surrounded by intense microwaves for much of his life, lived to the ripe old age of 76, dying apparently of natural causes.

 Corn Flakes

John and Will Kellogg, brothers invented in 1898. While accidentally left a pot of boiled grain on the stove for several days. The mixture turned moldy but the product that emerged was dry and thick.

Corn flakes are a packaged cereal product formed from small toasted flakes of corn, and are usually served cold with milk and sugar. Since their original production, the plain flakes of corn have been flavoured with salt, sugar and malt,

Dr. Kellogg introduced Kellogg Corn Flakes in hopes that it would reduce masturbation. In fact, Kellogg devoted much of his energy to discouraging sexual activity of any kind, and was an especially ardent critic of masturbation, which he believed could cause "cancer of the womb, urinary diseases, nocturnal emissions, impotence, epilepsy, insanity, and mental and physical debility" as well as "dimness of vision" and moral corruption.

Pencilin

Sir Alexander Fleming invented in 1928. While a contaminated Petri dish he had discarded contained a mold that was dissolving all the bacteria around it. When he grew the mold by itself.

Rubber

It was the 1830s, a period of time known for sucking. After his first two years of tinkering and failing with primitive rubber, Goodyear and his family were camping out in an abandoned factory and fishing for sustenance. This is when he made a huge breakthrough: He'd use acid to smooth out and toughen rubber.

Steam Engine
The invention of the engine has played a major role in the environment we live in today. The first incarnations of the steam engine were wood-powered, before coal was discovered as a superior replacement.

Invention of the Radio

In the 1800's, a physicist from Scotland had predicted radio waves. A German physicist then proved this theory by showing that radio waves are the same as light or heat waves. This allowed wireless technology to launch.
Nicola Tesla, a Serbian Scientist, designed the first radio in 1892. He also designed a Radio Controlled Robotic Boat using similar technologies.
Sir Oliver Lodge brought considerable improvement to the original design in the form of a coherer, a primitive form of radio signal detector. He is the first person to transmit a successful radio signal.

Invention of the Barcode

The patent was not granted immediately; in fact it took three years for the patent agency to grant their invention patent for the bar code, occurring on 7th October, 1952. The invention of the barcode is patent number 2,612,994, Classifying Apparatus and Method, the official title of the patent.

The first product to have ever been added to the barcode system was a pack of Wrigley's chewing gum.
